How to Design a Delphi Questionnaire

Designing a questionnaire can seem like a tedious and difficult process. Fortunately, the STAT59 platform makes designing a questionnaire fast and easy. Before proceeding ensure you have created your project, you can follow the instructions under How to Start a Delphi Project article.

First, you will need to open a new survey round

  1. Click on your Delphi project in your "My Projects" pane.
  2. From the Project Dashboard click on the Design tab.
  3. Under the Delphi Rounds / Questionaires click the Add Round button.
  4. Add the name of the questionnaire, and the minimum / maximum number of free proposals.
  5. In the Proposal Text box add some descriptive text. This is the text the experts will see when they complete the survey. A good introduction here explains the context of the proposals.
  6. Optionally set an open and close date for the questionnaire. You can leave these blank and set them later if you choose.
  7. Click the SUBMIT button to create the questionnaire.

You will now be taken back to the project dashboard. Click on the Design tab again to see your new questionnaire.The next step is to add the statements to the questionnaire.

  1. Click the Edit Questionnaire button.
  2. Click the ADD STATEMENT button.
  3. Add the statement text. In most cases Delphi study statements are simple statements of fact that the participants rate their agreement.
  4. Using the Scale dropdown click the correct questionnaire rating scale. Usually this will be "Seven Point Differential Scale for Agreement" but you may choose any scale you feel is appropriate for your study
  5. Click the SUBMIT button.
  6. You will be taken back to the statement editor where you will see your new statement added to the questionnaire.
  7. Continue to add all the statements to your questionnaire. When you are finished, use the DASHBOARD button to return to your project
